Banana Nut Loaf

1 cup sugar
2 tablespoons soft shortening
1 egg
¾ cups milk
3 cups flour
3 ½ teaspoons baking powder
1 teaspoon salt
1 cup mashed bananas

Mix thoroughly. Pour into well greased 9”x5”x3” loaf pan. Let stand 20 minutes before baking. Bake until toothpick stuck into center comes out clean. (Crack in top is characteristic.) Bake at 350 degrees for about 70 minutes.
